This is a practical, employment-focused programme delivered in partnership with Farnborough Film Studios.

Learning combines:

Real industry case studies

Practical simulations

Group production exercises

Industry software exposure

Professional portfolio development

Learners complete a final showcase and progression review to support their next step into employment, apprenticeships or further study.

This course is for adults aged 19+ who:

Want to start a career in Film & Television

Have struggled to access industry networks

Are unemployed or seeking a career change

Are returning to work

Want structured preparation before applying for runner roles

Live within the Hampshire County Council area

Learners must meet at least one ATL eligibility criterion (e.g. earning under £25,750, on Universal Credit, without full Level 2 qualification, refugee status, risk of redundancy, etc.)
Prosp Aims
By the end of the course, you will be able to:

Understand the structure of the screen industries and production workflow

Explain the role and responsibilities of a Runner

Demonstrate professional on-set communication and etiquette

Interpret production paperwork such as call sheets and schedules

Apply basic Health & Safety awareness within studio environments

Deliver a short, structured pitch

Understand freelancer finance basics (invoices, budgeting awareness)

Use introductory Movie Magic Scheduling & Budgeting tools

Produce a “Runner Production Pack” portfolio

Identify clear progression routes into employment or further training
Prosp Objectives
No prior industry experience is required.

An initial assessment will be completed to understand learners’ starting points, skills, and career goals. Learning plans will be personalised in line with RARPA requirements.

Those with previous creative or digital experience will be challenged through extended tasks such as budgeting simulations or advanced pitch work.
