Who this course is for
This free course is aimed at adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who would like basic safeguarding awareness in preparation for employment or volunteering in the childcare sector such as early years, youth work or schools.
Prosp Aims
The course will involve:
• Two 3-hour online group sessions
• Optional self-directed home learning tasks to expand your knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding & Prevent
• Access to a personal tutor for information, support and guidance

This course covers the age range from pre-birth to 18 years of age, and includes:
• Learning the underpinning safeguarding legislation that guides safe practice and recruitment
• Identifying the different types of abuse and the signs and indicators of abuse
• Finding out why some children are more vulnerable to abuse
• Finding out what to do, and what to say if a child discloses that they are being harmed
• Discovering where to find out more information and further training

Prosp Objectives
To qualify for this free government funded course, you must be a Hampshire resident age 19+ who meets our eligibility / UK residency criteria. Please contact our team for more details.
Prosp Requirements
On successful completion you will be sent a ‘Hampshire Achieves Course Completion Certificate’. Hampshire Achieves courses can be included in your CV if you are job-hunting. Your tutor will also discuss further progression opportunities, including employment, volunteering, education, or other childcare based courses provided by our team (e.g. 'Sector Based Employability Programme- Working in Childcare and Schools'.)
